Fulltime Freelance

// Posted in General

I’ve got some pretty exciting news. My last day at Mesos is this Thursday meaning that I will be going fulltime freelance for a while. It should be a pretty interesting change of pace, working at home 5 days a week. It’s something I’ve been striving for but I didn’t think it would happen so soon. I’m looking into the possibilities of another part-time job (I don’t think I’ll ever give up freelance in favour of another fulltime job) because I enjoy collaborating with other designers/developers which is one of the draw-backs to freelance. Anyway, wish me luck on my new endeavour!

More Good News!

Tutorial Blog LogoMy site has been feature in yet another article. This one comes from Tutorial Blog, a site that creates tutorials regarding good design supplemented with examples of such. You may recall earlier this week my CSS nav was featured on Smashing Magazine. Well, Tutorial Blog has featured my footer in an article/tutorial about how the footer has evolved past a simple copyright line.

If it wasn’t for Google Analytics and Technorati, I wouldn’t have had any idea that my site was featured on any of these sites at all. If you’ve got a blog and are looking to boost traffic and track stats (all for free), than you may want to keep reading. (more…)

Pets & Errands Site Goes Live

Pets & Errands by Serena Dog Logo ElementYou may have already seen the logo illustration that I did for Pets & Errands by Serena. Yesterday the website, petsanderrands.com, went live. I utilised two separate layouts for this content rich site because the home page needed an eye catching way to display the company slogan, while the other pages needed room for the content to grow.

As always, I encourage everyone to take a look and offer some feedback.

Now comes the part where I wax validation. (more…)

Tiger In My Tank

Tiger WallpaperSo, a good friend of mine, RG Lacandola, sent me this incredible illustration that he created yesterday for his personal portfolio. I gushed about it for a while and I’m even considering it as a tattoo option. I decided to create another wallpaper using RG’s illustration as the centerpiece.

Click the image to download the wallpaper at 1440×900 or, if you sport a larger resolution, 1680×1050.

Callwave: Voicemail Reborn

// Posted in Reviews, Software, Tech, Widgets

I’ve been using this service for a few months now and whenever I mention it everyone seems really intrigued so I’m writing a formal review in the hopes that some of you can have your voicemail reborn through this service as well.

Callwave HTML formatted EmailCallwave is a free service that overrides your cell providers voicemail service with their own. They give you the ability to listen to your voicemail on your computer, receive email (really awesome html formatted email, check out the image), txt notifications and of course, check from your cell phone. You simply give them your phone number, choose a password and your good to go in a few minutes. (more…)

Mesos Center Site Goes Live

// Posted in Branding, CSS, Design, Portfolio, Web

Mesos Center ScreenshotOne of the smaller projects I recently finished at my “full-time” is a website for our Weight Loss Center in Winter Park, Florida. The site is meant to serve as an online brochure to introduce our clinic which opens later this month. Therefore, the site is very simple, as there is currently only a need for one page.

Please visit the all new mesoscenter.com and let me know what you think. I’d love some constructive criticism.

More Positive Feedback!

// Posted in CSS, Design, Web

My redesign has been live for officially two weeks today and in that short time I’ve received positive feedback from many different design sources! Last week, while browsing through my WordPress admin, I noticed I was being linked to from Smashing Magazine. They wrote an article about the practicality of CSS-based navigation and my site was one of the examples they linked to in their article. You can read the article here.
